What does the token safety checker do?

Paste an ERC-20 contract address and pick a chain. NodeFlare pulls the token's on-chain metadata (symbol, decimals), confirms it's actually a deployed contract, checks whether ownership has been renounced, and returns a preview risk score with the signals behind it. It's a fast first-pass sanity check before you approve or trade a token.

Which chains are supported?

All 23 chains NodeFlare runs nodes for — Ethereum, Base, BNB, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and more, plus the young chains most safety tools skip: Robinhood Chain (4663), Plasma, Ink, Zircuit, Soneium, BOB and Mode. New tokens on new chains are exactly where scams hide and where coverage is thinnest, so that's where this matters most.

Does it detect honeypots and rug pulls?

The free preview surfaces the cheap, decisive signals: is it a real contract, is ownership renounced, and a partial score. True honeypot detection (simulating a buy then a sell to see if you can exit) and holder-concentration analysis (is one wallet holding enough supply to dump on you) require heavier on-chain work — those run through the NodeFlare API on a free key or pay-per-call over x402.

Is ownership renounced always safe?

No. Renounced ownership removes one class of rug (the owner can't change the tax or pause transfers anymore) but it doesn't prevent honeypots baked into the contract, liquidity being pulled, or a whale dumping. Treat the score as a starting point, not a green light — read the signals and do the deep check for anything you're about to fund.
