eth_getStorageAt on Avalanche

Reads a raw 32-byte storage slot from a contract at a given block. Used to inspect state that isn't exposed by a public getter.

Slot layout is compiler- and version-specific, and proxies keep their logic's state elsewhere — compute mapping/array slots carefully. Prefer eth_call whenever a public getter exists.

Accounts & state on Avalanche

C-Chain state reads behave as on any EVM chain. Note that Avalanche L1s (subnets) have separate state — this endpoint serves the C-Chain only.

Parameters

[address, slot, blockNumber|tag]

cURL

curl https://rpc.nodeflare.app/avax/public \
  -X POST \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","method":"eth_getStorageAt","params":["0xb97ef9ef8734c71904d8002f8b6bc66dd9c48a6e", "0x0", "latest"],"id":1}'

The example targets the USDC contract on Avalanche — you can run it as-is.

ethers.js

import { ethers } from 'ethers';

const provider = new ethers.JsonRpcProvider(
  'https://rpc.nodeflare.app/avax/public'
);

const result = await provider.send('eth_getStorageAt', ["0xb97ef9ef8734c71904d8002f8b6bc66dd9c48a6e", "0x0", "latest"]);

Runs the example above against the public Avalanche endpoint — straight from your browser.

eth_getStorageAt on Avalanche — FAQ

How do I call eth_getStorageAt on Avalanche?

POST a JSON-RPC 2.0 request with "method": "eth_getStorageAt" to NodeFlare's Avalanche endpoint at https://rpc.nodeflare.app/avax/public. No API key is required for the public endpoint.

What does eth_getStorageAt cost on the free tier?

eth_getStorageAt is weighted at 2 compute units per call. The free tier includes 2,000,000 CU/month, so that is roughly 1,000,000 eth_getStorageAt calls per month — no credit card.

Is eth_getStorageAt available on the public Avalanche endpoint?

Yes. eth_getStorageAt works on the public Avalanche endpoint (https://rpc.nodeflare.app/avax/public) with no API key, rate-limited per IP. A free key adds higher limits and a dedicated path.

Anything Avalanche-specific to know when using eth_getStorageAt?

C-Chain state reads behave as on any EVM chain. Note that Avalanche L1s (subnets) have separate state — this endpoint serves the C-Chain only.
